If you've not been back for a bit you'd be surprised what they wear now. Ok you get some who dress modestly... then there's the other lot.

I am a Watchtower survivor

i really like calling myself a watchtower survivor.

it is not demeaning to other people and is not a negative statement.

when a jdub sees that term it may make them think about why i would call myself a survivor.

Took me time to realise they were mysoginists (if it's wrong I spelt it phonetically using a soft 'g'). But I suspect now that one of the power elders was seeking to encourage me to clean the toilet when he said:

"Oh I love cleaning toilets, I get such pleasure putting my arm right in, deep down and going up the bend and round the bowl." I just stood there looking at him. I took it at face value, that he really did enjoy doing that. I left puzzled.

Want to know what I also did? I told the elders that I would go on the platform with all the elders everywhere as my audience and talk them through that the 3rd year of Jehoiakim's rulership was the 3rd year of Jehoiakim's rulership (etc etc - the stuff that tumbles 1914). They could fill the KH with elders, they could video it and they could live transmit to the GB.

Having done my small explanation with charts (it involves only 7 scriptures!) I would take questions and if anyone found fault, I would stand corrected.

i literally had dozens of suits.

i still have more dress clothes than anyone i know.

There was no difference between my work clothes and meeting clothes. But it would sometimes be very cold in the KH, so I don't wear my thermal socks as much as I used to. Still got them though and a super long blanket-like coat.

Oh and the pair of mittens with flipback tops so you can turn over the pages of the Bible or use your mobile. I think I still have them.

I like that term too!

I also like to think that spiritually speaking I drove my little tank all over them. Then I reversed it and went all over them again. And there was absolutely nothing they could do about it except shoot a hole in the rubber dingey they were sitting in.

Now they can clean their own toilets and do their own dusting.

The Bible does hold out the hope of the resurrection of the dead, which is a great comfort. Sadly the Watchtower publishers use this as one of their introductions to get you interested in their leaders' property building empire.

You will find genuine comfort in the words of Jesus Christ which are in the Bible. But I urge you not to get involved with this cult.

I too would have given you such literature at one time, now you'd find me tapping on your door to apologise and explain that I didn't realise they had lied to me and I wouldn't wish you to be misled as I had been.

there's a new article about john the baptist (not sure why they reverted to baptist instead of the modern english 'baptizer'), and it goes into several areas of his life followed by quotes from josephus showing that these specific things were historically documented.

the article is summarized by saying:.

the first-century historian josephus viewed john the baptist as a real person.

This is like saying Henry VI viewed Henry V as a real person, so can we. Thing is no one questions whether or not Henry V was a real person. And I have never heard anyone say John the Baptist wasn't a real person.

The only way to get reinstated is repentance BUT very occasionally you can get their chucking you out overturned.

Who in their right mind would want that though?
